First of all I just wanted to give you a big THANX for your awesome well explained guide, & for taking the extra time to do this & to actually be replying & helping with people’s questions, MUCH appreciated! ![]() A USB thumb drive has no moving parts and doesn’t need as much power, so you won’t need an additional cable if using one.Ī method to transfer files to SD, ideally a PC, but I guess you could use a MAC or Android device also. The Y cable will allow you to get power from both USB ports at the back of the Wii U. The Wii U’s USB ports do not provide a lot of power. Another option would be to pick up a WD elements 1TB HDD, It’s smaller but I can confirm it works well with the Wii U!Ī ‘ Y-USB cable’, This will be needed if you are using an HDD. Personally, I use a Seagate 2TB HDD and l have a ton of space. This is where we will be installing all our games files etc so the bigger the better.
